The Quest for Health

Why I decided to start a blog.

Do you feel in bondage to your health problems, whether it’s a higher number on the scale than you would like, or low energy, or an autoimmune disease, or too many prescription drugs with all of their nasty side effects?

Do you put on good health habits like a coat, only to take it off again when you’re stressed? You’ll have an arguement with your husband, parents, co-worker, etc. and think, “I need (and deserve) a carb fix for all the stress I just went through.” Or you’ll stay up half the night worrying about something, and in the morning you’re dragging. Then you’ll stop by Starbucks for the biggest frappuccino they sell. Or--my past weakness--Did you know that Sam’s Club sells chocolate chips in 4 ½ pound packages? Yeah. I’m not immune.

I have had various health struggles since I was little. In the past, I’ve struggled with asthma so bad, I would have to roll up the car windows if I drove by a freshly mown lawn. I tried inhalers and allergy shots, but they didn’t really help. It ran my life. I could never go on hayrides. Picnics at the park? Only if they hadn’t mown the grass recently. I also had migraines regularly. As I got older, I struggled with undiagnosed hypothyroidism with depression. I’ve tried to take little steps over the years to try to improve my health, but I never seemed to get anywhere. Instead of two steps forward, one step back, sometimes it seemed to be two steps forward, five steps back. I couldn’t figure out how all the pieces fit together. As a Christian I knew that the Bible talked about “abundant life”. But that is definitely NOT what I was experiencing. I wanted to look good and feel good. It wasn’t until I learned what I will be sharing with you, that I started to make progress.

The Bible says that Jesus came so that we may have abundant life. John 10:10b
Please take your time, and carefully read this verse in all of these different translations.

*I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. NKJV

*I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness. Berean Study Bible

*My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. NLT

How do we get that abundant life? It sure doesn’t seem to come automatically, the minute we receive Christ as Lord. And isn’t physical health a part of that abundant life? Yes, it is, but I’m not preaching a health and wealth sermon here. It does take effort, but not the kind of effort you are thinking of. Are you ready to start experiencing “a rich and satisfying life”? I am looking forward to showing you how to enter in.

*All Bible references will be from the New American Standard Bible unless otherwise noted.
